Here are two views, one looking into the new addition from the living room. The other is looking through the kitchen into the living from the new space. Since the exterior doors are installed the space is completely opened between the old and new.
So, finally for Anita, here are two photos of the cherry cabinets. I had a little more room to get to the boxes in the living room. Right now they expect to install the cabinets by the end of September.
Here are the new windows in the upstairs bathroom, and the new exterior doors. We seem to be on our way! The projected substantial completion is september 30. I Think we won't be in until mid-October, but we'll see? Maybe in time for Erica's birthday?!?
Our windows arrived on time and they're being installed as we speak! I don't have pictures yet, but I'm so excited that I just had to pass along the news!

Talk about dragging out a task! The roof is 99% complete! They still have to cap the ridges, but at least the whole roof is covered! The best news is that our windows will be delivered monday! I'll believe it when I see it. We might actually get completely enclosed by the end of this coming week!

The gutted kitchen is just calling out for all those new cabinets in boxes sitting in the living room!
Well as of yesterday they have about 50% of the shingles on. Doing the math, I think that translates to about 10 shingles per day?!? seems like it's been taking them forever on the roof! They've been going at it for over a week and it really only should have taken a day!!!!! I can't kill anyone because I'm supposed to be the good cop! Erica is the bad cop! Boy, will they be in for it if I let her loose!

Abi's got a roof!
Well, at least part of one. And paper on the sides. (Is Tyvek the only company that makes this stuff?)
And here are two views of the inside of the new room. We've got framing, too, Anita! But no windows yet.

For Comparison....
This is what things looked like in the beginning of April.
And this is a blog about the addition and renovations we're doing to our house. I'm told that progress is being made on the house. And I suppose that's true--we now have a roof and walls. It just feels like things are moving the speed of molasses in January.
The hydrangeas, a big pile of dirt, and our additon peeking around the corner.
The addition in the back of the house: The front and other side. They've ripped off the concrete siding to expose the old wood siding beneath, which we will then re-cover up with Hardie Plank.
We started this blog as we began renovations and an addition on our home, and we kept joking that we were giving Abi, our wonderful weimaraner, a new home. Many things have changed since then, and Abi is no longer with us, but in memory of her, we keep the name of the blog the same.
